The Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 950th Engineer Company is back in the United States.

About 100 members of the battalion touched down in Fort Bliss, Texas, on Monday morning, according to Maj. Paul Rickert, director of communications for the Wisconsin National Guard.

The soldiers departed Superior in October and deployed to Afghanistan to clear improvised explosive devices from roads.

The company, which is headquartered in Superior with a detachment armory in Spooner, will go through a demobilization process over the next couple of days, Rickert said.

Once that is complete, they will be flown back to Wisconsin.

Rickert expected the soldiers to return home within the next week or two.

More information will be released as the time for their return gets closer.
