Superior School District and the teacher education department at the University of Wisconsin-Superior have long worked together and have now formally recognized that relationship.
The university provides training for teachers and the district provides opportunities for UWS education students to hone their skills.
Now both parties have both formally recognized Superior School District as a Professional Development District. The formal recognition will help Superior School District in applying for professional development grants, said Mary Anne Korsch, curriculum director.
The two educational organizations have been working toward this recognition for two to three years, said Peggy Marciniec, UWS associate professor and director of field experience.
The relationship will allow for more opportunities for development, she said.

UWS has always worked with Superior School District in the area of teacher development, but not exclusively. With formal recognition, UWS will now focus on its partnership with Superior School District, Marciniec said.
