The Reds rallied from a 7-1 deficit to win the opener, 11-10, but then came up short in game two, 7-4.
After taking Thursday off, the Reds (13-4) will be at home the next four days, beginning at 6 p.m. today when they host Ashland in a doubleheader. Superior will also host Hermantown for one game at 1 p.m. Saturday; Menomonie for two games at noon Sunday; and Duluth Lakeview at 8 p.m. Monday.
Reds 11, Cubs 10
Spencer Koskie, Marty Manion and Zach Magdzas pitched for the Reds in the opener, allowing 10 hits with three strikeouts, six walks and two hit batters.
Taylor Olson led the Reds offensively by going 3-for-4, which included a two-run home run and a two-run double.
Koskie added a two-run homer; Jordan McDonald was 2-for-4 with an RBI; Trent Olson doubled and singled; Manion belted an RBI double; and Rob Dembroski singled.
Chase Shaub and Jordan Verry pitched for West Duluth, while Travis Samuelson doubled, singled and knocked in three runs; Jordan Buetow hit a two-run single and Carter Bagley doubled twice and had an RBI.
Cubs 7, Reds 4
Mitch Mitch Svihel was the complete-game winner in game two, allowing seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Samuelson led the Cubs with the bat again, going 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.
Verry, Travis Magdzas and Derek Meger had two hits and an RBI each, and Buetow hit a run-scoring single.
Spencer Severson and Magdzas combined in the loss for the Reds, allowing 11 hits with five strikeouts, four walks and two hit batters.
Severson led the Reds at the plate going 2-for-2. Trent Olson added a double and Taylor Olson, Dembroski, Kyle Wilander and Magdzas each singled.
Reds 18, Angels 0, 5 innings
Ryan Myhre picked up the win on the mound in the Reds' five-inning win over the Duluth Central Angels Tuesday night at Morrie Arnovich Field. Myhre tossed a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and one hit batter.
Sam Schiff led the Reds on offense, going 3-for-4 with six RBIs. Among Schiff's hits were a three-run double in Superior's seven-run third inning. He also hit a two-run single and a one-run single.
Magdzas added a three-run double and a bases-loaded walk; Taylor Olson was 2-for-2 with an RBI; McDonald hit a two-run single; Koskie doubled and singled and Dembroski and Kellen McCoshen hit RBI singles.
Jordan DeCaro, Jon Kusch and Garrett Hansen had Central's hits.
