A Superior man made an initial appearance for a seventh drunken driving offense Friday in Douglas County Circuit Court.
Jon Thomas Moore, 54, faces one count operating while intoxicated-seventh, eighth or ninth offense, a felony. Cash bail was set at $500 with the condition that Moore not operate a motor vehicle without a valid license and not consume or possess any alcoholic beverages.
According to the criminal complaint:
Douglas County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a report of a person slumped in the driver's seat of a van on County Road B in the town of Oakland around 4:39 p.m. Thursday. When deputies located the van, it was being driven northbound on Jacksino Road and then stopped at the intersection to County Road V.
The driver, identified as Moore, had a difficult time opening the door and shutting off the van and could not find his license in his wallet without help from a deputy. When asked where he was going, Moore replied, "Jail, I guess."

When asked to perform field sobriety tests, Moore did not follow directions and barked out unintelligible answers when deputies spoke to him.
The Superior man needed physical assistance to maintain balance while walking into the hospital for a blood draw and into the jail. Moore has six prior convictions for operating while intoxicated, the most recent in 2005.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week.
