Superior man appears in court on child sex charges

Criminal complaint said the alleged sexual contact took place over months between the man and a teenager.

A Superior man who allegedly had sex with a child under the age of 18 at a Superior hotel waived his preliminary hearing in Douglas County Circuit Court Nov. 11.

Cameron Ellis Ostrander, 44, faces felony counts of child enticement and exposing genitals and one misdemeanor count of sexual intercourse with a child. Cash bond of $10,000 was set for Ostrander, who remained in custody at the Douglas County Jail Friday, Nov. 13. Ostrander was ordered to have no contact with the reported victim and no intentional contact with minors.

Ostrander told Detective Mike Jaszczak that he was in a dating relationship with the teenager for months, according to the criminal complaint. He admitted to having sex with the minor multiple times in a car, at residences and in hotel rooms.

The most serious charge, child enticement, carries a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $25,000. Ostrander’s next court appearance was set for Dec. 7.
