Citizens from a newly formed community organization "People First" gather at 7 p.m. today at 1303 E. Third St. in Superior to create signs that send a message: Stop Walker, Vote Kloppenberg.

JoAnne Kloppenburg, an assistant attorney general for 20 years, is running to become the next Wisconsin State Supreme Court Justice.

The citizens are part of a new group, People First Superior/Douglas County. The group was created last month to bring members of the community together who are concerned about Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair bill and the welfare of others in their community.

People are invited to come help create signs, talk about issues, and meet others in the community who are concerned.

The group has decided to participate in the spring Supreme Court elections because of the implications it will have on the current issues in Wisconsin.

"We are working with others in our community to protect the rights of all people, said member Mike Raunio. "Everyone will be effected by the current budgets and we need to join together to make our voices heard that our governments should 'put people first' when making decisions."

People First Superior/Douglas County is a grassroots organization that aims to give local citizens a voice. The organization meets weekly to discuss current issues, plan events, and to reach out to community members. The group has rapidly grown in the past few weeks and continues to get bigger.
