Counterfeiters are targeting Superior businesses. Fake $50 bills have been passed to merchants at four establishments in the past week, according to Det. Chris Moe with the Superior Police Department. An additional business refused to take what appeared to be a counterfeit $50 bill.
Moe said all of the bills have the same serial number: CF19979683A. Superior businesses are urged to be on the lookout for the bogus bills. If someone tries to pay with one of the counterfeit $50s, merchants should call 911.
The police are looking for David A. Long and Katlyn M. Grathwol for questioning in connection with the circulation of the bogus bills.
Anyone with information on the bills or the suspects is encouraged to contact the Superior Police Department at 911, or call Moe at 715-395-7678 or the tip line at 715-395-7468. Information can also be shared through the department’s Facebook page or by texting the keyword “spdtip” and your tip to 847411.
