Stranded canoeists rescued in Brule

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Brule Volunteer Fire Department and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources responded to a Congdon Road address in the town of Brule for a report of stranded canoeists on the Brule River on Wednesday at about 5:25 p.m.

It was reported that two people were standing on a rock and their canoe was full of water.

Firefighters and a DNR warden assisted the canoeists, who were rescued without incident, according to a sheriff's report by Deputy Cory Fossum.

No injuries were reported.
