Steven Lee Solberg, 51, former longtime resident of Brule, currently of South Dakota, died from injuries sustained in one-car accident north of Rapid City, S.D. on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006.

Steven Lee Solberg, 51, former longtime resident of Brule, currently of South Dakota, died from injuries sustained in one-car accident north of Rapid City, S.D. on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006.

Steven was born in Duluth Oct. 18, 1955, to Carl and Mary Ann (Johnson) Solberg.

He graduated from high school in Anoka, Minn. He had previously been a self-employed painter and taper in the Brule area for many years before moving to South Dakota a little over a year ago.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, the Brule River Lions Club and was also one of the original founders of the Waino Rider's Snowmobile Club.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one aunt.

Steven is survived by one son, Chad Steven Solberg, Poplar; Michele Solberg, Poplar; his parents, Carl "Lee" and Mary Ann Solberg, Brule; one sister, Sherri (John) Ekker, Big Lake, Minn.; four brothers, Scott (Bonnie) Solberg, Coon Rapids, Minn., Robert (Lisa) Solberg, Turtle Lake, Wis., Michael (Stefanie) Solberg, St. Francis, Minn., and John Solberg, Isanti, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, one uncle, and a special friend, Jane Smeenk, Vale, S.D.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday in Hope Lutheran Church, Oulu, with Pastor Scott Stai officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be Steven's brothers, Scott, Robert, Mike and John Solberg, his brother-in-law, John Ekker and his friend, Jeff Verkinnes.

Interment will be in Everrest Cemetery, Waino.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
