St. Paul pastor to replace Bishop Fliss

The Telegram learned at press time that Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Rev. Peter Christensen bishop of the Catholic Doicese of Superior. He currently serves as pastor of Nativity of Our Lord in St. Paul in the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis.

The Telegram learned at press time that Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Rev. Peter Christensen bishop of the Catholic Doicese of Superior. He currently serves as pastor of Nativity of Our Lord in St. Paul in the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis.

Rev. Christensen will succeed 76-year-old Bishop Raphael M. Fliss, who was appointed to post in 1985.

The 54-year old priest was born in California and studied at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, Calif., at the University of Montana in Missoula, at the St. John Vianney Seminary, St. Thomas College in St. Paul and at the St. Paul Seminary, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported this morning on its Web site.

He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in 1985.
