The Klang's team won the title in the Northern Lakes Ladies' Bowling League at Gordon for the second straight year. Team members were Margaret Berry, Irene Burfield, MelRae Stulen, Ruth Vincent and Florence Klang. (1960)

Greg Tinker went 3-for-3 at the plate to help power the Superior Senior High School baseball team to a 7-1 win over Cloquet, bringing the team's record for the season to 11-0. Scott Peterson gave up only two hits to record the pitching win. (1970)

Junior outfielder Glenn Solin and freshman pitcher John Rosenberg won dual honors for their performances with the UW-Superior baseball team. Solin, from Superior, was named the team's most valuable player and most valuable offensive player. Rosenberg, from Brookfield, Wis., was named the most valuable defensive player and was picked for "rookie of the year" honors. Outfielders Greg Tinker and Jeff Ernster were elected co-captains for the next season. (1973)

Kathy Nelson struck out 12 batters en route to pitching a 17-3 no-hitter as the Superior Senior High School girls softball team defeated Solon Springs. Wildness in the third inning cost her the shutout. The Spartans were led at the plate by Barb Berg, who went 3-for-3 and batted in five runs to share most valuable player honors with Nelson. (1976)

The Superior Senior High School baseball team parlayed a single by Tony Bronson, three Proctor errors and a wild pitch to gain the edge in a 4-1 win over the Proctor Rails. (1982)
