Freshman Bob Peck went the distance, giving up only four hits as the Superior East Orientals fashioned a baseball win over the Northwestern Tigers 6-2. Bob Granquist and Ron Anderson each had a key single in the Orientals' six-run seventh inning when the sky fell in on the Tigers. It was Superior Central 7-3 over Solon Springs as freshman Pat Walsh overcame three Solon Springs unearned runs while striking out five batters and walking two. Ross Amundson and Tim Crowey, with two hits each, led the Vikings at the plate. Meanwhile, Superior Cathedral showed power to spare in turning 18 hits into a 19-6 win over Northwood High School of Minong. Gene VanMassenhove went 4-for-6 for the Panthers and two of his teammates, Larry Raymond and Mike Rookey, each had three hits. (1962)

Catcher Mike Fink's ninth-inning sacrifice fly scored designated hitter Scott Hendrickson with the winning run for the UW-Superior baseball team in a 3-2 victory over UW-Stout. Freshman Duane Kortze threw a four-hitter at Stout, striking out seven batters and giving up four walks to bring his record to 2-1. (1980)

Senior Duane Fonger won the only Superior Senior High School team member to win individual events and the team placed fifth among six teams in the Cloquet Invitational Track Meet. Fonger won the high and low hurdles events. (1981)
