The Superior High School girls basketball team notched another victory Tuesday night as it defeated Duluth Denfeld 62-38.
After the first half, Superior already had a 14 point lead, up 32-18. In the second half the Spartans continued to dominate, outscoring the Hunters 30-20.
Denfeld had very well rounded offense in the game, with eight different players scoring, none in double figures. Superior also had a wide variety of scorers, with seven different players making baskets for the Spartans.
Lindsey Lindstrom led all scorers with 22 points, and Laura Amys also ended in double figures with 16 points.
The Spartan girls next play at Chippewa Falls Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Spartans down Hunters
The Spartan boys basketball team was also in action Tuesday night, playing Duluth Denfeld on the road. The SHS boys came out with a 71-61 victory over Denfeld after a close first half.
Unlike the girls game, in which the Spartans took a big lead early, the Spartan boys led just 42-41 at halftime. In the second half, however, SHS pulled away. The Spartans outscored the Hunters 29-20 in the final half to pull of the win.
Superior got strong performances from a number of players, as four different Spartans ended in double figures. Dustin Ritchie led all scorers with 26 points. Bart Baily finished second on the SHS team with 19 points, and Mike Johnsted and Jesse Covill scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Also scoring for Superior was Mike Vanmassenhove, who added five points.
Steve Birman led Denfeld with 19 points and Trent Beise added 14.
The Spartan boys do not play again until after Christmas. They will take part in the Holiday Tournament in Spooner, Wis. on December 27 and 28.
