The Superior High School boys basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season with an 84-62 win Tuesday night at Grand Rapids.

Bart Bailey recorded a triple-double for the Spartans with 17 points, 10 assists and 10 steals.

Mike Johnsted added 22 points, 14 rebounds and four steals and Ben Lindberg had 23 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Superior also got eight points from Dustin Ritchie and Jesse Covill and two points from Mike VanMassenhove.

Brandon Moberg and Chris Akre led the Thunderhawks with 27 and 11 points, respectively. Nine of Moberg's game-high points came on three 3-pointers.

The Spartans play their first home game of the season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against the Duluth Central Trojans.

SPARTAN SPIN: Bailey, Covill and Lindberg made 3-pointers for the Spartans, who were also 7-of-13 from the free-throw line. ... Chris Blake scored 11 points and Matt Peterson 10 as the SHS junior varsity won 57-36.
