The Superior High School girls tennis team let one slip through its fingers Tuesday with a 4-3 loss to Duluth Central at the SHS tennis courts.

"This was a match that we should have won, we just did not play like we wanted to," SHS coach Pete Conley said. "We need to work on consistency and aggressiveness."

Superior won two doubles matches -- Lauren Kontny and Cara McCuskey over Kaitlyn Kerfeld/Amanda Pihlaja, 7-5, 6-0, and Kristine Adamic and Meghan Gallagher over Porsche Peak/Jenn Boll, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.

"Cara and Lauren played another excellent match, they started out slow but took control in the second set and came away a good win," Conley said.

Darin Larson had the Spartans' third win, 7-5, 6-4 over Autumn Pennington in the No. 2 singles match.
