The Solon Springs Eagles girls basketball team got off to a rough start and never could quite recover, falling to Butternut/Glidden 54-22 in Solon Springs on Friday night.
Butternut/Glidden jumped out to a 15-5 lead over the Eagles after the first quarter and held the Solon Springs girls to just two points in the second quarter for a 30-7 lead at halftime. The Eagle girls got their offense working a little bit better in the second half, but it was too much to catch up to Butternut/Glidden.
Leading the Eagles in scoring was Chanda Deming with six points, Salann Gilbert with five, Rachel Hanley with four, Lorin Larson with 3 and Ailien Bowker and Alex Sickler both chipped in two points apiece.
Butternut/Glidden was led by Jess Meier's 16 points. Chelsea Aicher and Devon Furtak added 12 apiece.
The Eagles are in action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when they host Bayfield.
