The Solon Springs girls basketball team had a week to work things out after falling to Washburn on Nov. 20 in the Eagles' season opener. It seems the time was well spent, as the Eagles cruised to a 77-31 victory over South Shore.
The Eagles jumped out to a 17-10 lead after the first quarter, and then limited South Shore to three points in the second quarter to take a 34-13 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, Rachel Hanley came alive for Solon Springs as she scored 13 of the team's 24 third-quarter points to put the Eagles up 58-26. The Eagles' Kate Klinzing, who opened the game with a solid first quarter, also ended on a high note with nine fourth-quarter points.
For the game, Klinzing led Solon Springs with 31 points and Hanley also finished in double figures with 25 points.
Solon Springs (1-1) will host Hurley on Dec. 4.

Evergreens 52, Cardinals 30
The Northwood Evergreens girls basketball team opened up a 21-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a 52-30 win over Luck Tuesday night in Minong.
The Evergreens had three girls score in double figures, led by Ashley Albano with 16 points. Ashlee Blegen added 14 points and Taylor Fellbaum had 12. Deanna Scheller and Erin Okonek added four points apiece and Janie Murray made a first-quarter basket.
Tony Polz and Erica Wilson led Luck with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Northwood also outscored Luck 11-8 in the second quarter and 11-10 in the third. In the fourth quarter, the 'Greens made 7-of-8 free throws while outscoring the Cardinals 9-7.
Northwood is at Drummond at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
