The person behind the threat of violence that led to backpack checks Thursday at Superior High School has been identified and arrested.

The threat was made against "SHS," and was directed at Springfield High School in Ohio, according to a Friday Facebook post by Superior High School Principal Greg Posewitz. A 16-year-old female, who attended Springfield High School, was arrested and charged with a felony for making the threat, according to an article in the Journal-News for Butler County, Ohio, for which Posewitz provided a link.

According to the Journal-News article, the student's Facebook threat about a school shooting went viral, causing districts across the country to take precautions.

Superior Police had initially traced the threat to a computer in Flagstaff, Ariz. Students and their bags were checked Thursday as they entered Superior High School, a process that continued into the afternoon.
