The Superior High School gymnastics team opened its season Saturday at the Lincoln Classic in Wisconsin Rapids.
Competing along with Superior were Antigo, Eau Claire Memorial/North, River Falls, Stevens Point, West Bend West and Wisconsin Rapids.
Stevens Point won the meet with 130.4 points. The Spartans finished with a team score of 118.8.
Two Spartans placed among the top gymnasts individually. Giselle Sziron took second in vault and fourth in floor. Jessica Engstrom placed fourth in vault.
Superior will host its only home meet of the season at 6 p.m. Friday at Twin Ports Gymnastics. Competing with the Spartans will be Grantsburg and Rice Lake.
