The Superior High School golf team advanced to next week's WIAA sectional tournament with a second-place finish at Tuesday's WIAA regional, which was held at the Nemadji Golf Course.
Eau Claire Memorial won the team title with a 305. Superior was three strokes back at 308. Hudson with a 310 and New Richmond at 314 also advanced to sectionals.
The top four individuals, not on one of the top four teams, also advance to the sectional meet.
River Falls' Wes Karras and Eau Claire North's Kendall Faanes tied for first with 78s, Chippewa Falls' Austin Byrd was third at 80 and ECN's Luke Joswiak was fourth at 81.
Superior's Rob Kraft and Eau Claire Memorial's Nate Webb tied for overall medalist honors with 73s. Superior's Joel Pettingill and ECM's David Walter were next with 75s.

Also golfing for the Spartans were Mitch Kontny, 78; Spencer Sitek, 82; and Andy Heytens, 89.
The WIAA sectional meet will take place Tuesday or Wednesday in Marshfield.
The top two teams and top three individuals, who are not members of a qualifying team, advanced to the state tournament June 7-8 at University Ridge in Madison.
