SHS girls skate to third straight win

The Superior High School girls hockey team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-3 over the New Richmond Tigers Saturday afternoon at the New Richmond Sports Center.

The Superior High School girls hockey team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-3 over the New Richmond Tigers Saturday afternoon at the New Richmond Sports Center.

Paige Gilbertson and Kari Miller each scored twice as the Spartans improved to 16-6 with their third straight victory.

Superior also got goals from Cassie Berg and Kaitlyn Mergen.

Kelsey Hansen and Alayna Moe dished out two assists apiece while Miller, Jenna Martin and Jordan Buhr had one assist each.

Makalyla Pitt was the winning goaltender with 20 saves.

Paige Charland, Shelby Rolland and Tiffany Olek scored for New Richmond and Megan Peterson stopped 25 shots.

The Spartans, and the No. 8 seed, travel to Baldwin for a Sectional 1 quarterfinal game against the top-seeded River Falls Fusion at 7 p.m. Thursday.
