Taylor Kosey's 24 points helped the Superior High School girls basketball team defeat Duluth Central 45-42 Thursday night in the SHS gym.

With the win, the Spartans improve to 5-7 overall and 5-2 in the Lake Superior Conference. Central falls to 2-12 and 0-5.

The Spartans, who led 29-22 at halftime, also got eight points from MacKenzie Newman, four from Christa Diedrich, three from Abby Gotelaere, and two each from Janelle Strewler, Bettye Jo Nelson and Raya Kosey.

Sami Vezina led Central with 11 points.

The Spartans host Eau Claire Memorial at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.
