SHS freshmen tie in season finale

The Superior High School freshmen football team finished its season Tuesday with a 14-14 tie against Duluth East at Ordean Field. The tie gives the Spartans a final record of 2-3-1.

The Superior High School freshmen football team finished its season Tuesday with a 14-14 tie against Duluth East at Ordean Field. The tie gives the Spartans a final record of 2-3-1.

Scoring for Superior was Dan Quade on an 80-yard kickoff return and a 60-yard run. Eric VanPuymbrouck rushed for one two-point conversion. Quade also led the Spartan offensive attack with 81 rushing yards.

The SHS defense was led by Jake Franks with nine tackles, while Spencer Koskie and VanPuymbrouck added eight apiece, and Joel Lindberg and Cole Schorr chipped in with seven each. Cody Kitch recovered a fumble and Rocco White got an interception.
