Two long-time Superior insurance agencies are merging. Ron Stone, owner of Saari-Stone Insurance has sold his agency to the Holden Insurance Agency, Inc. which has been in business since 1931.
Stone has been in the insurance business for 39 years and bought the original Saari Insurance Company in 1975. He specializes in personal and commercial property and causality insurance. He said the two agencies handle many of the same companies and he will work with Holden for one year to assure a smooth transition for his clients. Stone's three employees will also be joining the Holden team.
"My wife, Linda, is retiring after 30 years with the postal service, so we have been planning on this for a while," Stone said. "I will work one more year with Holden, and then I will be ready to retire next year at 65."
Stephen Matushak, president of Holden's predicted the merger will result in enhanced services.
"Adding and combining insurance companies will allow more pricing and coverage options," Matushak said. "Ron has earned a great reputation among his peers, the insurance companies he represents and his clients. We have been friendly competitors during much of this time and now will be joining forces. We'll make a good team."
