Robert C. Romans, 69, of Superior, died on May 11, 2007, at his residence.
He was born in Hawthorne, Wis., Oct. 12, 1937, to Jeannette (Johnson) and James Harley Romans.
Bob married the former Jean M. Law, daughter of Ralph and Erma (Faurot) Law in 1964. Jean was his loving help-mate, friend and companion the rest of his life. They had one child, Bradley, currently living in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Bob attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior, graduating with a summa cum laude bachelor of science degree in 1964 and a master of science in teaching in 1966.
During the years of schooling at UW-Superior, Bob also served as lay-pastor for Lutheran churches in Patzau and Bennett and on a number of Sundays the Presbyterian Church in Brule.

After earning his master of science in teaching degree, Bob enrolled in a doctorate program in botany at Arizona State University. He was awarded a three-year Fellowship from the National Aeronautical Space Administration (NASA) and earned his doctorate in 1969.
In the fall of 1969, Bob was hired by Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, to teach in the biological sciences department. He taught there for the next 28 years before retiring.
Following his retirement, Bob and his wife, Jean, spent summers at their summer residence in Solon Springs, returning permanently to Superior in 2004. Bob enjoyed gardening, reading, listening to music, baseball and college hockey.
Dr. Romans is survived by Jean (Law), his wife of 43 years, and son, Bradley of Bowling Green, Ohio. He is also survived by a sister, Marjorie (Warren) Nelson of Superior and many nephews and nieces and their families.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Dean, Myron "Mike," Jimmie and Russell and one sister, Carol (Mervin) Wiberg.
A gathering of friends will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor David Schoessow officiating.
