MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers say the team has established a single-day record for ticket sales.

Team officials say 98,000 tickets were sold in eight hours Saturday.

That topped the previous record of 94,000 tickets sold on the first day that tickets went on sale in 2006.

It was also 15 percent better than the best day last year, when 85,000 tickets were sold on the first day that individual tickets were made available.

The Brewers open the season March 31 against the Cubs in Chicago.
