Ralph Edwin Nielsen, age 68, a resident of Spooner, died on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at his residence.
He was born July 30, 1938, at Solon Springs to Peter C. and Georgia E. (Marvin) Nielsen. He attended Central High School in Superior and then went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad. He spent 35 years with the railroad as a materials handler and crane manager.
Ralph retired in 1993 and shortly after moved to Solon Springs where he lived from 1994-2004. He then moved to Minong, Superior and finally settling in Spooner. He belonged to the Railroad Union and enjoyed fishing, camping and driving on country roads.
Ralph is survived by his son, Brian Nielsen (Jannette Primus) of Superior; three daughters, Cathy Nielsen, Teri "T.J." Nielsen and Linda McNaughton, all of Superior; four grandchildren; a brother, Mearle (Carla) Nielsen of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Michael, a granddaughter, Stephanie, two brothers and two sisters.

Services for Ralph Nielsen will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Safe Harbor Church at Seventh and Grand Avenue in Superior with Pastor Jason Benjestorf officiating.
The Dahl Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
