A former Wisconsin assemblyman from Cameron announced plans to run for state senate in 2022.
Romaine Quinn, a Republican, served in the Wisconsin Assembly from 2014-2020 when he decided not to seek re-election to focus on starting a family with his wife, Racquel. In March, the couple welcomed their first child.
Since he left office, Quinn said he continues to get calls from people looking for assistance with a variety of state issues — issues he’s not able to help with because he’s no longer in office.
Quinn represented the 75th District, made up predominantly of Barron and southern Washburn counties and small sections of Polk, St. Croix and Dunn counties.
“Having been born and raised in northern Wisconsin, I have come to know our shared conservative values of hard work, self-reliance and good old-fashion commonsense,” Quinn said. “During my previous service in the Assembly, I devoted my time to working on solutions to improve our schools, roads and rural communities while making sure the state lived within its means. I was proud to have received support from both Democrats and Republicans back home.”

For many of the issues people raise when they call, Quinn said he’s on the opposite end of the spectrum from the current senator, Janet Bewley.
Bewley, D-Mason, was first elected to the state senate in 2014 and currently serves as the minority leader. She has not announced her intent to run for office again.
“I just don’t think she represents the majority of the district anymore, and I think I’m in a good spot to replace her,” Quinn said. “I had a pretty positive and proven track record for the 75th District … I just attribute it to working hard and being honest with people. We’re not going to agree on everything, but I will always be honest with you. I think that resonates with a lot of people in Northern Wisconsin.”
