A transformer that blew in Poplar caused an overflow of the village's sanitary system.

The overflow was reported midday April 19 at the lift station at 4802S County Highway P.

Randy Jones of Poplar said when he responded to the call after work, he realized the power was out at the lift station. He called the utility and went to retrieve a generator, but when he returned, Jones said the power had been restored.

Jones estimated the overflow at about 25,000 gallons based on the duration of the power outage and the amount of flow experienced that day.
