Superior police are investigating a Thursday evening armed robbery at the Belknap Spur, 615 Belknap St.
The suspect brandished a large knife during the incident and fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to a new release issued by the Superior Police Department:
Officers responded to Belknap Spur on a report of a robbery at knifepoint around 8 p.m. The lone male clerk let officers into the locked store.
After interviewing the clerk and accessing surveillance video, police discovered the suspect is a white male, about 20- to 23 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and wearing a dark-colored stocking cap and puffy jacket.
The suspect brought an item up to the clerk as if to purchase it and is seen on surveillance video with a large knife in his right hand. The clerk opened the cash register and then stood back while the suspect reached into the drawer and removed the cash. The suspect then ordered the clerk into the bathroom and told him to remain there for 20 minutes before coming out. The suspect verbally threatened the clerk before directing him into the bathroom. The clerk was not harmed in this incident.
The police department is seeking information from anyone who was in the area that may have witnessed the incident or seen the suspect. If someone recognizes the suspect, they are asked to contact the Superior Police Department at the tip line at 715-395-7468, or 911. The department also can be reached on Facebook or the anonymous texting tip line, keyword “spdtip” at 847411 on your cell phone.
As with previous robbery incidents the public and store employees are urged to be cooperative with the demands of the robber. Not complying will simply increase the chance for a confrontation and potentially serious injury.
