Ashland Police on Monday said they are investigating an apparent homicide of a man found dead in his residence.
Police were called to 222 12th Ave. E. at about 11:38 Sunday night on a tip that a man there may be injured and need assistance. Police had to break into the home, and found the man dead.
The Wisconsin State Crime Lab and Wisconsin State Patrol responded and are continuing to process the scene. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed at the medical examiner’s office in Madison, Wis.
According to a news release “numerous leads are being followed up on” and a “person of interest” has developed in this case. “This appears to be an isolated incident,’’ police said.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of the family.
