Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jake Engelman found a stationary vehicle Sunday partially on the shoulder and in the northbound lane of County Road P in Bennett. The driver, identified as Hautamaki, appeared to be slumped over sleeping with the vehicle running in third gear and brake lights on. An open beer can was in the cup holder.
Engelman was able to wake Hautamaki, and the Poplar man said he had been drinking at a Douglas County bar earlier. A preliminary breath test indicated he had an alcohol concentration of 0.201.
His next court appearance is set for Wednesday.
