To The Telegram:

Being on the Douglas County Board of Supervisors, I have been impressed that Mary Tripp and Nick Milroy have shown up at our last two county board meetings. This is something that has not been done since I have been serving on the board, since 1988. I hope who ever gets elected, they will continue to attend some of the meetings, seeing as how the state plays an essential role in dealing with the counties.

I usually enjoy reading the letters to the Telegram during local elections, to see what strengths all the candidates have. This year the race for the 73rd District seat has been upsetting to me and others, based on the negative letters sent by certain supporters. I believe there have been way too many negative articles about the candidates, regarding who is a true Democrat. What does that mean? Are the other candidates a fake Democrat? What is a fake Democrat?

Personally I feel they should dump all party affiliation and make all races for all offices nonpartisan regardless of local, state, or national elections.

This negativism seems to me to be just like one of those "Nasty Negative National Races." Let me ask the writers who say that some of the Democratic candidates should either be Independent or Republican this -- are those candidates who recently joined the Democratic Party not good enough for the party? Why were they accepted to join the party? Is it because the party just wants their money, or is it to build up their numbers?

It was enough for me last Friday and again on Monday when there were more negative letters and one saying basically that three candidates of the Democratic Party are not good enough to run as "Democrat." That was enough for me. Now, I must take a stand, and give my full support to Mary Tripp.

Mary has been involved with our community for many years, especially Superior Days. Whether or not Mary has been a member of the Democratic Party for one day or 20 years is no concern to me. I believe regardless, she does have the best interests of Douglas County and the73rd District at heart, and will do the best job.

I really think Mary is a not a sheep in wolf clothing. Isn't she a member of the Democratic Party? Is she a member of the fake Democratic Party? If these true Democrats believe she is a fake member then why was she allowed to become a member of the real Democratic Party?

I believe that she wants to get involved; that is why she is running for the office to make a difference in the 73rd district.

Please vote for Mary Tripp.
