Duluth police are reminding motorists that Friday's Christmas City of the North Parade will impact traffic and parking around downtown.

The parade starts at 6:20 p.m. and travels from its assembly point on Railroad Street to Lake Avenue, then to Superior Street and west on Superior to the parade's conclusion at Fifth Avenue West.

Road closures and detours are:

  • Railroad Street between Canal Park Drive and Garfield Avenue will be closed starting at 2:30 p.m.
  • Interstate 35 northbound and southbound exits onto Lake Avenue will be closed from approximately 6 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Lake Avenue South will be closed to through traffic at Buchanan Street and northbound traffic off of Park Point will be detoured to Canal Park Drive starting at 6 p.m.

The only access to the DECC will be via Fifth Avenue West to Harbor Drive. The only access to Park Point will be via Lake Avenue and Canal Park Drive.
No parking zones are:

  • Superior Street between 6th Avenue West to Lake Avenue after 4:30 p.m.
  • Michigan Street between 5th and 6th Avenues West after 4:30 p.m.
  • Harbor Drive after 3 p.m.
