Open house focuses on watershed stewardship

The Douglas County Land Conservation Department hosts an open house about the Nemadji River Watershed 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Superior Town Hall, 4917 S. State Road 35.

The Douglas County Land Conservation Department hosts an open house about the Nemadji River Watershed 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Superior Town Hall, 4917 S. State Road 35.

The Land Conservation Department is utilizing a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to make this event available and free to the public so that anyone who is interested can attend to learn more about stewardship activities and the watershed.

The event offers short presentations about topics including land stewardship planning, wildlife management, forest management and utilizing a watershed approach for resource management. There will be informational displays, a mapping demonstration, free refreshments, native plants for sale and free tree seedlings. The featured speaker is Valerie Johnson, forest wildlife specialist for the Ruffed Grouse Society.
