A Superior man serving a federal sentence for manufacturing and possessing child pornography received an additional 20-year sentence today in Douglas County Court.

Eric Andrew Olson, 40, pleaded no contest to one felony charge of first degree sexual assault of a child. The sentence of 15 years confinement followed by five years of extended supervision will run concurrent with a pre-existing federal sentence of 21 years.

Additional felony charges -- 12 for possession of child pornography and one for child sexploitation -- were dismissed.

The Superior Police Department assisted the FBI July 25, 2006 in serving a federal search warrant for child pornography at Olson's home. FBI agents found at least 600 images of child pornography among Olson's possessions.

A home videotape was also found. It showed Olson having inappropriate sexual contact with a girl who appeared to be age 3 or 4.

When sentencing Olson in May, Chief U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb said he presents an extreme danger to children. His actions had devastating consequences to the victim, she said.

Following his release from prison, Olson must remain on supervised release for the remainder of his life.
