Lt. Gov. Barb Lawton announced three grants totaling $146,221 to help the two organizations replace aging vehicles.

Lawton was in Superior today as part of Gov. Jim Doyle's annual tour of the north.

The Aging Resource Center will receive $49,933 to buy two low-floor vans to accommodate seniors. Two grants totaling $96,288 will allow the Challenge Center to buy three different size buses to replace three aging vehicles in the center's fleet.

"This is essential money that will help provide transportation services to our seniors and disabled individuals in Douglas County," Lawton said.
