The Northwood High School girls basketball team earned a 65-26 win over Turtle Lake Tuesday night after getting off to a fast start in the opening quarter.

The Evergreens got baskets from six different players for 17 first-quarter points, but it was the team's defense that stood out. NHS held Turtle Lake scoreless in the quarter, and by halftime, the Evergreens held a 33-13 lead.

Turtle Lake was never able to recover from its first-quarter troubles as Northwood rolled to a big win.

Four Evergreen players finished in double figures. Janie Murray led the team with 13 points, and Erin Okonek scored 12 points. Both Taylor Fellbaum and Deanna Scheller had 11 points and Ashlee Blegen and Annie Block had seven points apiece. Ashley Albano and Amy Hermeier rounded out the Evergreens' scoring with two points apiece.

"A great balanced scoring night for us," said Jason Schultz, NHS head coach. "(It was) nice to see contributions from so many girls."
