Kristina Anderson and Kelsey Moreland, graduates of Northwestern High School, have signed with the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon Cross Country and Track & Field programs.

Kristina Anderson and Kelsey Moreland, graduates of Northwestern High School, have signed with the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon Cross Country and Track & Field programs.

Both athletes were coached by former Dragon Linc Woodbury. Woodbury was a 1976 NAIA National Championship Qualifier in the 1500 and is still the MSUM school record holder in the same event, with a 3:48.0 time that was set in the same season. The record is the oldest school record on the books in men's track & field at MSUM.

One person who can possibly break Woodbury's school record is Kelsey Moreland. Moreland is a five-time Wisconsin state qualifier. He qualified twice in cross country and three times in track. He placed fourth in the 1,600 in both 2006 and 2007. He was also a member of the 4x800 relay teams in those same meets and a member of the 4x400 this past season as well. Moreland also excelled in cross country being the sectional runner-up on two separate occasions. Kelsey Moreland is the brother of Dane Moreland, who just graduated from MSUM this past spring. Dane was a 13 time All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference selection, and also helped lead the Dragon cross country team to its first conference championship in 14 years this past season. The Dragon's are hoping Kelsey Moreland can bring that same championship attitude to the team this fall.

Kristina Anderson a five-time state qualifier in both cross country and track, will give a major boost to Dragon women's sprint nucleus. She has been a major contributor to the success of Northwestern's relay teams in the past four years, being a member of at least two relay teams per season for the state championships, and she was a member of the 2006 4x200 state champion squad. Kristina is not only an accomplished sprinter, as she was also a member of the state qualifying girl's team in cross country this past season.

Anderson and Moreland will join current Dragon team members David Teige and Jessie Pooler who were also Northwestern High graduates.
