I am writing to express my support for Nick Milroy for state assembly. I have known Nick for four years, having first met him when I was working on the Kerry presidential campaign. I was immediately impressed with Nick's talents. He was able to work well with the local Democratic party people, the many volunteers and the Washington contingent. It was a diverse group, and this was no easy task. This skill of working with diverse groups of people is very important for those who work within state legislatures.
His abilities as a leader were immediately apparent. He was well-organized, well-informed and treated everyone with courtesy and respect. The first time I heard him speak, I was impressed. He is a strong speaker with a clear grasp of the issues and a vision for the future. I spoke to him about running for office some day and he said he thought he "might try the city council." Nick was elected to the council in 2005 and has served as a voice of clarity, knowledge and reason.
Nick is a loyal Democrat and has been a member of the party for more than 10 years.
He is a Gulf War veteran and since his return from the service, he has been actively involved in working for the election of Democratic candidates. Northern Wisconsin would be extremely fortunate to have someone of Nick's caliber to represent us in Madison.
