The 2009 8th Grade Spartan Invitational track and field meet was held recently at the outdoor track at Wessman Arena.
Leah Holmes enjoyed a big day having a hand in four new records. She set individual records in the 400 and mile run, then teamed with Morgan Peterson, Kelsey Reder and Sabrina Schnell on the 4x100 relay and Lynsey Summer, Peterson and Schnell on the 4x200 relay.
Peterson also broke the long jump record, while Jessica Engstrom set a new record in the 75.
For the boys, Tony Valentine set new marks in the 100 and 200 and Ben Erickson set a new record in the mile run.
The Red Wing won the team tug-o-war.
