NHS runners in action

The Northwestern High School boys and girls cross country teams participated in the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota, over the weekend.

The Northwestern High School boys and girls cross country teams participated in the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota, over the weekend.

The girl place 16th and the boys were 29th.

Teams from accross the country participated in the meet, with Coon Rapids winning the team title on the boys side and Brandon Valley of South Dakota winning for the girls.

"It was a great experience for our young kids as they got to see some of the top runners in the country in the college divisions as well seeing some of the Northwestern grads run in the college races," NHS coach John Woodbury said.

Individually, Amber Gurske got on the award podium by placing in the top 20 runners, finishing in 19th place of 368 girls.

The top finisher for the Tiger boys was Aaron Corry, placing 64th of 416 boys.
