Wisconsin State Treasurer Kurt Schuller's efforts to abolish his office continue. He plans to unveil a constitutional amendment he's drafted to eliminate the office of State Treasurer and Secretary of State Wednesday in Madison. The joint resolution would have to pass two legislative sessions and a statewide referendum before it could take effect.

Earlier this month, Schuller opposed Gov. Scott Walker's spending plan that called for moving nearly all the office's responsibilities to other agencies. He said he wants voters to decide the fate of the office as it stood when he began his term in January. He says "gutting" the office's budget unfairly tilts the odds toward passing the amendment.

The joint resolution will be released at the 11 a.m. news conference at the Office of the State Treasurer.
