Nathan J. Gustafson, 25, died unexpectedly Feb. 20, 2008, in Palo Alto, Calif.

He was born July 24, 1982, in Laramie, Wyo., to Bill Gustafson and Nancy (Moore) Guernsey.

Nathan attended schools in Upper Michigan, Laramie and Superior, graduating from Superior High School in 2001. He attended Lake Superior College, the University of Wyoming, and motorcycle mechanics school in Arizona.

He enjoyed the outdoors, motorcycle riding, waterskiing, building and flying model airplanes and sports. He participated in team sports of hockey, soccer and cross country while living in Superior.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Bill and Cindy Gustafson, Superior; mother, Nancy and stepfather Peter Guernsey, Pinedale, Wyo.; step-brothers, Dusty Keliin, Superior, Logan and Peter Wolf Guernsey, Pinedale, and step-sister, Dana Keliin, Minneapolis; grandparents, Burt and Alice Gustafson, Crystal Falls, Mich., Wilma Moore, Casper, Wyo., step-grandparents, Gary and Sharon Sarafiny, Caspian, Mich.; aunts and uncles, Mary (Joe) Serama, Green Bay, Alice (Tom) Wilhelm, Laramie, Wyo., Kathy (Jim) Wittig, Elk River, Minn., John (Jeannie) Gustafson, Birmingham, Ala., Cheryl Moore, Boise, Idaho, Diane Moore, Casper. Several cousins and extended family also survive.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 11 a.m. Friday in Crystal Falls, Mich., with the Rev. Dino Silvestrini officiating.
