Nick has been a member of the Douglas County Democratic Party for many years and has been active in Democratic Campaigns since 1996. During that time he has worked tirelessly as a champion of the traditional Democratic values of good paying jobs, fair taxation, and social and economic justice.
Nick embraced these ideals early in life. Born into a large working-class family, he learned the value of hard work, sharing and stretching a dollar. His parents and their Catholic social teachings serves as models for the formulation of his personal philosophy. Dedicated political servants such as Frank Boyle, Russ Feingold, Paul Wellstone and Al Gore inspired Nick to enter public service.

Two specific examples of Nick's Democratic commitment come to mind. First, in 2005, Nick ran for and won election to Superior's 8th District City Council seat; he has since been re-elected. Second, during the 2004 presidential election, Nick worked nearly full-time as a nonpaid Kerry-Edwards volunteer. He did so by using his days off, vacation time and unpaid furlough days from his job as an aquatic biologist. What commitment!
