MADISON (AP) -- Jake Gardiner's third goal of the game 49 seconds into the third period helped Wisconsin salvage a 4-4 tie with Michigan on Friday.
Michigan (8-3-4) led three times, including 2-0 in the first period. But the Badgers (6-6-3) kept coming back on Gardiner goals. He scored at 43 seconds of the second period to tie it 2-2 and at 11:31 of the second to knot it at 3-3.
Justin Schultz had the Badgers' other goal.
Michigan went up 2-0 on goals by Luke Moffatt and Carl Hegelin. Chris Brown and Louie Caporusso also scored for the Wolverines.
Michigan outshot the Badgers 43-24, but Wisconsin goalie Brett Bennett made 28 saves.

Shawn Hunwick had 20 saves for Michigan.
