Meyers sets new bowling record

Mitch Meyers, a 20-year-old from Superior, established a new city bowling record with an 867 series during Miller Commercial League action last Friday night at the Landmark Lanes.

Meyers' series included 33 out of a possible 36 strikes.

Meyers, who averages 246 for Jack's Bar, got better as the night went on, opening with a 269, which included two nine-count spares. He followed that up with a 298, leaving two pins standing on his final roll.

Then came the 300 game, which helped break the old series record of 845, set by by Pat Erickson in 1995, also at Landmark Lanes.

Meyers' brother, Matt, also had a good night, finishing with a 700.

"I didn't even know that," Mitch Meyers said. "I wasn't aware of too many things that were going on around me."

Meyers, an employee at Northwest Beverage, also bowls in the Saturday Night Mixed Poker League.
