The Solon Springs softball team led 5-0 before the Mellen Granite Diggers rallied for a 10-6 victory in nine innings Monday evening in Solon Springs.

"We played a great game," Eagles coach Dale Rajala said. "We lost 19-0 to the same team last week, we just played better and made some great plays.

"We're close, so I'm happy with the way we're playing and hope we can compete against the better teams in our conference."

Valarie Garay and Haylee Garrison had two hits apiece and Alex Sickler doubled for the Eagles, while Vanessa Zeman suffered the complete-game loss.

The Eagles are at Drummond at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
