GREENWOOD, Minn. -- The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office on Saturday confirmed the identity of the family of five found dead in their suburban home Thursday.

According to a release, the medical examiner said Brian Scott Short, 45, killed himself with a shotgun wound to the head. His wife, 48-year-old Karen Anne Short, and their three teenaged children, Cole Scott, Madison Mariah and Brooklyn Rose, were all found to have died from shotgun wounds to the head.

This would reflect the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department’s stance that this is a murder-suicide case. Interim Police Chief Mike Siitari did not disclose much information in what he described as a “complex and gruesome” case, but did say investigators believe there is no further threat to the public.
