M60A3 Tank Day in Superior coincides with Flag Day, according to a proclamation by Mayor Jim Paine.
The mayoral proclamation was made in honor of the M60A3 tank now located at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center.
The tank is on loan for a static display, with the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 serving as trustee.
The public is invited to attend a special M60A3 Tank Day and Flag Day celebration at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the Bong Center. Activities include a special flag raising, a welcome from Commander Dennis Bee and Vice Commander Eual Moor and special "tank you" presentations to supporters of the project. Refreshments include tank-shaped gourmet cookies.
Military personnel are admitted to the museum free Wednesday, which is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
